COVID-19 Safe Training Advice - IPAF Training Centre resuming MEWP, MCWP and Hoist training
This document is intended to provide practical guidance for IPAF-approved Training Centres to minimise the risk of exposure to COVID-19 when undertaking training on MEWPs, MCWPs and Hoists.
This document is intended to provide practical guidance on safety measures to minimise exposure to COVID-19 for anyone using MEWPs, MCWPs or Construction hoists for work activities.
Register and join IPAF and Chris Wraith, a health and safety professional on how to use MEWPs (mobile elevating work platforms), MCWPs (mast climbing work platforms) and hoists safely to minimise the exposure to COVID-19 in your workplace. By following Government advice, planning and preparing in advance, and implementing the findings of risk assessments, it is possible to undertake most work activities safely.
New guidance has been issued by IPAF to assist those using MEWPs, MCWPs, lifts and hoists to work safely and minimise risk from coronavirus. An accompanying free webinar will be published on Thursday 21 May, and thereafter available to view online.

International Rental Conference (IRC) 2020
The International Rental Conference (IRC) is a one-day event dedicated to the equipment rental industry in China and wider Asia. The conference will be held the day before the Bauma China 2020 exhibition. Peter Douglas, IPAF's CEO and MD is part of the speaker line-up.
After months of lobbying, the European Materials-Handling Federation and its partners have succeeded in gaining EU approval for a request to delay implementation of new regulations concerning the production and sale of non-road-mobile machinery (NRMM).
The first speakers have been confirmed for IPAF Summit, to be held in London, UK, on 23 April, as the event and the International Awards for Powered Access (IAPAs) gala dinner are set to sell out quickly. The IAPAs shortlist has also now been confirmed.
The shortlisted entrants to the 2020 International Awards for Powered Access) have been confirmed. A record 130 entries to the awards were received, with the judges meeting earlier this month in London to select their favourite entries in each category.
This notice is to formally advise members that the next Annual General Meeting of the International Powered Access Federation will take place at 16:30 (UK) on 23 April 2020. The meeting is conducted in English and for this reason the documents are available only in English.
The aim of IPAF’s Innovate event 2019 was to address key industry issues in order to develop potential solutions that would improve the safe and effective use of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs), formerly known as AWPs. Build UK has written to the Government to request recognition for construction, trades and supply chain workers, including those in powered access, to secure permission to travel and maintain access to active construction sites during the coronavirus outbreak.
The annual Asia Conference & Showcase, scheduled to be held in Seoul, South Korea, has been cancelled in 2020 owing to uncertainty around the global coronavirus outbreak by host IPAF. The event will be held in 2022.

IPAF welcomes the introduction of a new International Standard regarding MEWP operator’s controls. ISO 21455:2020 has been published and culminates a decade of work from IPAF and its members, and the UK HSE, to standardise the actuation, displacement, location and method of operation of MEWP controls.
MEWP overturn incidents often result in serious injuries or fatalities. Instability leading to overturn is commonly among the top four causes of lost time incidents (LTIs) annually, according to global data.
