    IPAF Irish Country Council (ICC) Rules

    The IPAF Irish Country Council, hereinafter referred to as the ICC, is responsible for the development and implementation of activities aimed at achieving the objectives of IPAF in Ireland / on the island of Ireland, representing all IPAF members in the region.

  • IPAF will be exhibiting at the Asia International Access Machinery Exhibition (APEX ASIA) from 28-31 October 28-31 2025 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre.

  • An important Call for Evidence (CfE) has been announced by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to review the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) and the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR).

  • IPAF North America hosted the Working at Height Conference & Awards on October 15–16, 2025, at the Music City Center in Nashville, Tennessee – bringing together industry leaders from construction, utilities, manufacturing, and equipment rental sectors to share innovations, insights, and best practices for safer and more efficient work at height.

  • The recent UK Budget included a significant change that will be of interest to our rental members. From January 2026, equipment purchased for lease, which was previously excluded from capital allowances, will now qualify for a 40% First Year Allowance (FYA). This follows sustained lobbying from across the industry to correct a long-standing inconsistency in the capital allowances system.

  • Lead acid batteries are commonly fitted to Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) mainly due to their durability and relatively low cost. These batteries require frequent maintenance, including checking, and topping up of the electrolyte levels.

  • Charging batteries on electrified Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) should be carried out in line with the manufacturer's instructions, which can be found in the operators’ manual. Incorrect battery charging can increase the risk of fire or explosion from transformers and/or charging equipment.

  • The most common type of Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery fitted to Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) is the Lithium Ferrophosphate (LFP) battery. The main risk from Li-ion batteries is fire or explosion, which can lead to thermal runaway.
