Hoewel hoogwerkers nog steeds een van de veiligste methoden zijn om tijdelijke werkzaamheden op hoogte uit te voeren, kunnen incidenten als gevolg van mechanische of technische storingen nog steeds leiden tot ernstig letsel en dodelijke ongevallen. IPAF benadrukt dat veel van deze incidenten kunnen worden voorkomen door middel van regelmatige inspecties, goed onderhoud en de naleving van veiligheidsprocedures.
