The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) has today launched its 2026 Global Safety Campaign, titled “Check It!”, aimed at promoting the critical importance of pre-use inspections, proper maintenance and regular servicing of powered access equipment.

  • While the federation recognises the potential benefits of emerging secondary guarding technologies, IPAF is not currently advocating mandatory adoption of specific systems by contractors ahead of completion of the international draft ISO standard.

  • IPAF will exhibit at Swissbau 2026, the leading biennial trade fair for the construction and property industry in Switzerland. The event takes place from 20–23 January 2026 at the Messe Basel, with an additional day on 24 January dedicated to interior construction activities.

  • The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) has launched PASS PAL, a new bridge course that allows holders of the CACES® R.486 licence for operating mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) in France to upgrade their certification and obtain the internationally recognised IPAF PAL Card (Powered Access Licence) – valid in more than 80 countries and regions worldwide.

  • The recent UK Budget included a significant change that will be of interest to our rental members. From January 2026, equipment purchased for lease, which was previously excluded from capital allowances, will now qualify for a 40% First Year Allowance (FYA). This follows sustained lobbying from across the industry to correct a long-standing inconsistency in the capital allowances system.

  • Two new BSI Standards Publications have been published - BS 8460:2025 'Safe use of mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) - Code of practice' and BS 7981:2025 'Mast climbing work platforms (MCWPs) – Selection, configuration, installation, maintenance, thorough examination and safe use – Code of practice'.

  • IPAF Middle East & Asia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the OHSSAI Foundation, reinforcing our shared commitment to advancing health, safety, environment, and sustainability (HSE&S) across industries.

  • There’s less than a week to go until the fifth edition of IPAF ELEVANDO, taking place on 6 November 2025 at Parque Fundidora in Monterrey. The event will bring together manufacturers, rental companies, distributors, and safety experts from across the region for a full day of learning, networking, and celebration.

  • IPAF North America hosted the Working at Height Conference & Awards on October 15–16, 2025, at the Music City Center in Nashville, Tennessee – bringing together industry leaders from construction, utilities, manufacturing, and equipment rental sectors to share innovations, insights, and best practices for safer and more efficient work at height.

  • An important Call for Evidence (CfE) has been announced by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to review the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) and the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR).
