  • In this webinar broadcasted on 7 July 2021, expert guest speakers examine the three main areas to ensure safe and effective use of MCWPs, covering the entire lifecycle of these machines.

  • Keep all occupants safe. Be aware of all platform occupants when moving the MEWP.

  • To stay safe and not distract the operator when the Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) is in motion.

  • 7909: I forgot my password for my IPAF ID account

Open ePAL and click ‘Login’, then select ‘forgot my password’ and follow the steps provided. For further help, please raise a support ticket at www.ipaf.org/support or email [email protected].

  • 7910: How does an existing PAL Card holder get their digital PAL Card? Does a training centre have to issue it?

All existing PAL Card holders can use the new ePAL app, they simply have to create an IPAF ID account and claim their licence either by scanning their PAL Card on their phone using NFC (like a contactless payment tap) or manually typing in their licence number. As long as their profile details match their licence details, it will be linked and visible within ePAL.

  • 7911: I’m getting a ‘Could not validate user against the licence provided’ error when adding my licence to ePAL

The licence security check has failed for one or more reasons. Please raise a support ticket through ePAL under the ‘More’ section, at www.ipaf.org/support or email [email protected].

  • In 2023 the International Powered Access Federation, IPAF is celebrating 40 years since its formation back in 1983 from the merger of two associations; International Federation of Hydraulic Platform Manufacturers (IFHPM) and International Work Platform Association (IWPA).

  • Members and friends of IPAF are invited to share their industry memories, featuring favourite moments, innovations, and influential people from the past four decades,
as part of the federation’s 40th anniversary celebrations.

  • Prevent objects falling from the platform. Be aware that unsecured tools and materials can fall from platforms.

  • When working in a Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) at height, you must be aware of the risk of tools, materials and equipment falling from the platform with the potential to injure people working at ground level. It is essential that any items likely to fall are properly secured within the envelope of the platform’s guardrails.

  • Always be aware and avoid crush hazards when moving the platform.

  • Understand the ground conditions before operating

  • A promising future lies ahead for members of IPAF Switzerland, which celebrates its 18th birthday this year with announcements on key improvements to its quality MEWP training programme, including updates to courses, digitalisation of delivery and the ePAL mobile app that already has more than 2,000 daily Swiss users.

  • The webinar explores the findings of the latest IPAF Rental Market Report 2023. The annual report studies a selection of countries/regions on the powered access market size, market dynamics, investments, market trends and drivers, and operational aspects.

  • You do not need to touch the power cables to be electrocuted – electricity can jump!

  • Position your MEWP correctly and always stay inside the platform guardrails with both feet on the platform floor

  • Be careful of the catapult effect on uneven ground.

  • Don’t Overload the Platform. Overloaded platforms can become unstable, always understand the machine limits before operating. Distribute the load evenly to prevent tip overs.

  • Don’t operate a MEWP when there is a risk of lightning. Seek proper shelter and wait until the storm passes.

  • There is a requirement for all lifting equipment, including Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs), to specify maximum capacity limits. For MEWPs, this is the safe working load (SWL) which is expressed in kilograms or pounds and includes the maximum number of people allowed in the platform. An overload is the intentional, or accidental, exceeding of these limits.

  • Speakers have been announced for the IPAF Summit 2023, to be held in Berlin, Germany, on 20 April. The theme of the IPAF Summit has been confirmed as “The Future” – a look ahead to challenges and opportunities in powered access worldwide.

  • A dedicated event aimed at providing a networking space for women working in powered access will be hosted by IPAF during APEX 2023 in Maastricht, Netherlands, as part of IPAF’s ongoing Women in Powered Access initiative.

  • If a MEWP (Mobile Elevating Work Platform) or platform occupant contacts energised power lines it can cause, electrocution, electric shock, fire, or an explosion. The same effects can occur without contacting a power line by arcing or flashover of electrical energy to a conductor.
