  • The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) is delighted to announce the IPAF Asia Conference 2024, a premier two-day event scheduled for 1-2 August at the Renaissance Nanjing Olympic Centre Hotel. This event promises to be an insightful gathering of the global powered access community, offering opportunities to learn, network, and share best practices.

  • All Conexpo delegates who visit IPAF’s stand can learn how to select a MEWP, why they must have a safe-use plan, and why to train both operators and supervisors to improve workplace safety by complying with new ANSI standards. IPAF will also offer free supervisor training in the two days prior to the March 10-14 event.

  • The IPAF Summit 2025, in partnership with Access International, focused on going beyond regulations to emphasise the intrinsic benefits of proactive safety leadership, continuous training and a commitment to best practices that protect workers and enhance productivity. Through expert talks, real-world case studies, and interactive discussions, attendees gained practical strategies to create a culture where safety isn’t just a requirement – it’s a core value.    

  • Why do you need rescue procedures? A robust, documented rescue procedure is required to lower the Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) platform occupants in case of a malfunction or emergency. Any delay in rescuing the MEWP platform occupants may be the difference between life and death.

  • MEWP rental markets have recovered better than was predicted to be the case in 2020, with most countries seeing markets and wider economies on course to recover to 2019 levels by the end of this year or early in 2022, according to the latest IPAF report.

  • Is the Nominated Ground Rescue Person familiarised? Not all MEWPs are the same. Make sure you understand, learn and practice the ground controls and emergency lowering procedure.

  • A new online shop has been launched by IPAF, offering the chance to order safety and technical guidance leaflets, stickers or decals, training materials, as well as key magazine publications including IPAF Informa in Italian and IPAF-Journal in German.

  • More than 50 delegates attended the first ever IPAF workshop on training and safety standards to be held in Oman, answering demand in the country to establish robust standards to improve operator safety and technical inspections of MEWP machines.

  • Intermat,is a chance to showcase IPAF’s new safety campaign for 2018-19. This outlines why operators and managers conducting work at height using MEWPs should plan ahead for safety; carry out proper risk assessments, choose the correct equipment for the job, conduct site and machinery inspections, use trained and familiarised operators under proper supervision and implement adequate segregation from other plant machinery and traffic.

  • IPAF is launching a major update of its globally recognised MEWPs for Managers course for those planning, supervising and managing work at height using powered access, and for the first time the course is also available as standalone eLearning.

  • IPAF has announced a ground-breaking agreement with member firm United Rentals, Inc, owner of the largest powered access rental fleet in the world. Following extensive evaluation, United Rentals is now able to deliver IPAF Certified mobile elevated work platform (MEWP), also known as AWP, operator training delivered through its United Academy blended learning platform.

  • IPAF Representatives showcased MEWP safety guidance, including the importance of quality operator training, correct use of PFPE and the Don’t Fall For It! safety campaign – designed to prevent falls from the platform – at OSH India 2022 in Mumbai.
