UK Country Council (UKCC) – Chair Transition

Jon Till

Jonathan Till has been appointed Chair of the UK Country Council (UKCC), following Ben Hirst’s decision to step down from the role.

Since selling Horizon Platforms in 2021, Ben’s involvement in the powered access sector has naturally reduced. Over time, his professional focus has increasingly shifted towards the lighting industry through his work with Bell Lighting, where he has recently stepped into a full-time role as Chief Operating Officer, alongside continuing his support for Horizon in his capacity as Chair.

In light of this change and recognising both his reduced day-to-day involvement in the powered access sector and the importance of having a UKCC that is current, connected and fully immersed in industry developments, Ben has made the difficult decision to step away from both the Council and the role of Chair.

Commenting on his decision, Ben said:
“This was not an easy decision. I’ve been immensely proud to serve on the UKCC and to work alongside such a committed and thoughtful group of people. I genuinely believe we’ve made a positive impact on the industry during my time involved, and I’m hugely grateful for the openness, collaboration and shared sense of purpose that has characterised our work together.”

IPAF would like to thank Ben for his leadership, dedication and significant contribution to the work of the UKCC during his 13 years on the Council.

On taking up the role, Jonathan said:
“I’m delighted to take over as Chair of the UKCC and to continue the good work of the previous Chair, Ben Hirst. With over 40 years’ experience in the industry, I hope to bring a new drive on projects close to my heart and in support of IPAF’s longer-term strategy, including careers in powered access, apprenticeships, and the move towards 100% digital PAL cards and certificates. The UKCC has an important role to play in advising IPAF of UK priorities and representing all member categories, and I look forward to working closely with the UKCC members and IPAF team to that end."

We thank all UKCC members for their continued dedication and contribution and look forward to working with Jonathan and the Council as they continue to support IPAF and the UK powered access industry.
