IPAF and ESiNET partner to support safer industry standards
IPAF and ESiNET have joined forces in a new partnership to promote safety, competence and professional development across the powered access industry in Ireland and the UK.
The agreement builds on conversations at ESiNET’s Annual General Meeting in Dublin on 21 May, where representatives from both organisations met to share ideas and discuss the challenges currently facing the MEWP, hoist and MCWP sectors.
ESiNET (Engineering Safety Inspection Network) is a networking engineering platform that supports engineers and inspectors involved in the examination, inspection and certification of work equipment and lifting machinery. By working more closely with IPAF, both organisations are looking to make it easier to share knowledge, encourage best practice and continue improving standards across the industry.
Damien O’Connor, IPAF’s Irish Country Manager, said:
“We are very pleased to be working more closely with ESiNET and its members. Partnerships like this make a real difference; by sharing knowledge and experience, we can help raise safety standards and support the people working across our industry every day.”
IPAF also highlighted its industry-recognised Competent Assessed Person (CAP) programme to ESiNET. IPAF CAP is designed for experienced engineers who want to demonstrate their ability to carry out statutory inspections to the highest professional standards. The training and assessments are tailored to specific categories of powered access equipment, including MEWPs, MCWPs and hoists, helping ensure engineers have both the technical knowledge and practical understanding needed for the job.
John Joe Magee, IPAF's Global MCWP and Hoist Representative, added:
“It’s encouraging to see an ESiNET member already engaging with IPAF CAP, particularly in specialist areas like MCWPs and hoists. This member is working with an MCWP and hoist manufacturer as they progress on their journey towards achieving IPAF CAP certification. That kind of commitment to learning and development is exactly what helps move the industry forward. By working together, we can keep building on that and push standards even higher.”
John Ashpole, Membership Director at ESiNET, said:
"This agreement recognises the important role that both organisations play in supporting those who work within our sectors. By sharing expertise and encouraging closer cooperation, we can help ensure that safety, competence and professionalism remain at the forefront of industry practice, ultimately benefiting employers, practitioners and the wider industry alike."
