IPAF Pays Tribute to Hans Aarse (1953–2025)

It is with deep sadness that the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) acknowledges the passing of Hans Aarse – a passionate advocate for safety in powered access, a long-standing supporter of IPAF, and a dear friend to many in our industry.
Hans began his journey with IPAF as the Benelux representative in 2005. His dedication, warmth and tireless work to promote IPAF’s mission quickly established him as a trusted and highly valued member of the federation. His efforts helped strengthen IPAF’s presence in the region, supporting the growth of safe and effective use of powered access across the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.
During his time with IPAF, Hans was also instrumental in the development of the Verticaaldagen exhibition, working alongside fellow industry veteran Hans van Gameren. Together, they created a vibrant platform for sharing innovation, safety and best practice in the access industry.
Hans began a gradual transition out of IPAF in late 2013, handing over his responsibilities to Jur Kamsteeg. By the end of 2017, he had fully stepped back from his official IPAF role and announced a semi-retirement.
Jur Kamsteeg, Benelux & East Europe Regional Manager at IPAF, said: “I first met Hans back in 2006 when my employer Riwal decided to become an IPAF training centre. We worked together a lot during those years and put IPAF on the map in the Benelux together with many other members.
“I remember Hans first asking me in 2012 if I would consider becoming his successor. The collaboration within IPAF finally came about at the end of 2013. We had many good years, laughed a lot, travelled and tried to grow IPAF. In 2017, Hans decided to take a step back.
“I have fond memories of that time. Rest in peace, my friend. And thank you for the opportunities you gave me.”
Our thoughts are with Hans’ family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.
Rest in peace, Hans – and thank you for everything.
