  • This document is intended to highlight the relevant hazards and associated risks when a MEWP is to be used in public areas, which are often more challenging to control than other work sites. Identify measures that can be implemented to eliminate or reduce the risk of an incident or injury when using a MEWP in locations where public and/or vehicles are not prohibited, ie not on fixed construction sites or defined commercial premises.

  • MEWPs and technological advancements in the powered access industry can help to enhance safety and efficiency and aid people in their work, rather than replace people altogether, according to speakers at the Europlatform 2019 conference in Nice, France.

  • Stay informed on the latest developments about COVID-19. Follow advice given by your healthcare provider, your national and local public health authority or your employer on how to protect yourself and others from COVID-19. National and local authorities will have the most up to date information on whether COVID-19 is spreading in your area. They are best placed to advise on what people in your area should be doing to protect themselves.

  • IPAF’s latest safety campaign is called Street Smart and emphasises the importance of working safely at height using MEWPs on or next to roads. It is being launched by IPAF at the bauma 2019 expo at Messe München, Munich, Germany, 8-14 April.

  • A new EU Machinery Regulation has been introduced, which will replace the current EU Machinery Directive, has been published at the end of June, and it will enter into force during July, and IPAF has informed its members to be aware of the changes.

  • IPAF Elevando España and the IPAF PDS successfully took place in Seville at the AC Hotel Sevilla Forum by Marriott, unfolding on February 15th and 16th and attracting more than 125 attendees. IPAF Elevando commenced in the afternoon, followed by the PDS for instructors the following day. The central theme remained "How to increase safety and professionalism in the sector and quality training." This marks the third edition of IPAF Elevando in Spain.

  • IPAF is supporting from The No Falls Foundation, the first and only UK charity dedicated exclusively to the work at height sector, urging workers to ‘Be Safe, Don’t Fall, Stay Alive!’, as lockdown eases and UK construction activity begins to increase.

  • The speakers for this year’s IPAF Summit in Dubai, UAE, on 6 March have been announced, with Matt Fearon, Genie President, and Peter Schrader, MD of Zeppelin Rental, among the names confirmed. Those wishing to attend the IAPAs dinner and presentation ceremony are reminded the early-bird discount expires on 31 January.

  • IPAF Elevando España 2025 is fast approaching, and final places are now available for this must-attend event for IPAF members, instructors, and industry professionals. Taking place on 13 February 2025 at the prestigious CaixaForum in Valencia, this exclusive gathering promises a full day of learning, networking, and celebration.

  • Sustainability, digitisation and adopting exciting new technologies are all key to building back better from the coronavirus pandemic, according to presenters at this year’s IPAF Summit, hosted for the first time as a virtual event owing to the global health crisis.

  • The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) will support OSHA’s Safe + Sound Week, beginning with a free webinar on how to operate Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MCWPs), formerly known as Aerial Work Platforms, safely.

  • Booking is open for the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) Summit and the International Awards for Powered Access (IAPAs) celebration dinner, to be held at the Hilton Miami Downtown in Florida, USA, on 8 March 2018. The theme for the Summit will be “Quantifying Sustainability”, and the first speakers are now confirmed.

  • All speakers are confirmed for IPAF Elevation, the UK conference, networking lunch and gala dinner, to be hosted at Whittlebury Park Hotel, Northants, on 18 November.

  • The annual Europlatform conference hosted by the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) in conjunction with Access International heard how the global fleet of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) will grow almost exponentially over the next two decades to reach 7 million machines worldwide, up from 1.25 million today.

  • The full line-up of industry thought-leaders confirmed to lead the topic-specific work groups at Innovate 2019 has been announced, with the second edition of the new workshop, challenge and award-format event hosted by IPAF in Chicago, July 16-17.

  • OHSSAI has amplified calls from IPAF to increase take-up of comprehensive MEWP operator training in India, to help eradicate unsafe practices such as using ground controls to elevate untrained personnel to carry out work at height.

  • A safety trail demonstrating positive behaviours to help prevent falls from the platform will be hosted in support of IPAF’s Don’t Fall For It! industry safety campaign at Vertikal Days 2022, where IPAF will also launch its new Women in Powered Access initiative.
