  • Booking is now open for the first IPAF UK regional meeting of 2019, which will be at the Holiday Inn, Wakefield, on Wednesday 6 February, beginning at 6:30pm. The line-up of speakers is confirmed, and those wishing to attend are urged to book now.

  • Representatives of the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) have attended an important cross-border forum on health & safety hosted at the EU Parliament in Strasbourg, France, concerned with sharing best practice and comparing regulatory regimes in Germany and France.

  • New ways to renew and extend MEWP operator training have been made available by IPAF, giving operators renewing their PAL Card and training certification or taking their advanced operator PAL+ training further options to use VR sims and eLearning.

  • Putting up and removing seasonal decorations can quickly turn into a festive hangover if those tasked with the work do not know how to select the correct type of MEWP, overlook the need to use professionally trained operators and supervisors, or if they try to save time or money by not following safe working practices, IPAF has warned

  • Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) should not be used if there is a risk of lightning. If lightning strikes a MEWP it will look for the path of least resistance to earth. This means it can travel from the platform, through the superstructure and tyres to earth. Rubber tyres do not insulate MEWPs.

  • A new representative to cover mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan has been announced by IPAF, with Tim Mo set to take up the post from 1 August.

  • The International Awards for Powered Access 2024 (IAPAs) held on the evening of March 14 at the Scandic Hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark, showcased excellence, safety, sustainability, and innovation within the powered access sector. Organised jointly by the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) and Access International Magazine, the event gathered over 420 attendees from across the industry to recognise outstanding achievements across various categories.
