Second Elevation Switzerland draws a crowd at FC Basel

IPAF Elevation Switerland 2020

The second Elevation Switzerland was hosted by the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) on 22 January, at St Jakob Park, Basel, the home of leading Swiss football team FC Basel.

IPAF instructors, training centre staff and members all joined the event, which comprised an instructors’ professional development seminar (PDS), a guided tour of the stadium, demonstrations of MEWPs in action performing maintenance tasks at height and a mini-conference, followed by networking and dinner.

This was the second time the event has been hosted by IPAF in Switzerland and it continues to prove a popular format, attracting 115 attendees during the PDS, with around 80 participants staying on for the mini-conference, dinner and networking.

Speakers in the mini-conference included: Thomas Krieg from Ermenswil, a construction manager and former bobsledder, who in 2015 was injured on a training bobsled run and left paraplegic; Pier Angelo Cantù, publisher of Rentalblog, giving a presentation about digital marketing; and Nigel Taylor of Serious Labs talking about the potential and opportunities of incorporating virtual reality simulators into MEWP operator training.
