IPAF Webinar: The future of safe learning

Guest presenters include Kate Pasterfield who is a senior leader at Sponge, a multi-award winning digital learning agency based in the UK and Darren Verschuren, International Account Director for Serious Labs, an award-winning technology company that develops virtual reality (VR) training solutions for the global heavy equipment industry. Darren will look at virtual reality simulators modernising MEWP operator training.

Kate Pasterfield is a creative catalyst within digital learning, Kate’s work with global clients, (including Tesco, Royal Mail, GSK, Axa, IKEA), harnesses the latest technologies and thinking to address real-world performance challenges.

Kate is committed to driving innovation in the sector. Her focus is on delivering human-centered and cutting-edge work, and today she’s passionate about deeply enhancing creative learning experiences with advanced platforms and analytics.

In 2016, Kate was awarded Learning Designer of the Year and named Learning Professional of the Year in 2017.

Darren Verschuren has spent the last 25 years working in the MEWP rental and training business and has been an IPAF instructor for the past 18 years. Having been formally the chairman of the IPAF training committee and an active member for the past 12 years.

Having worked for some of the bigger rental and training organisations Darren went on to work as a freelance instructor before setting up a training business called ALS safety. ALS Safety went on to be one of the top 10 IPAF centres in the UK and was brought into the Riwal group in 2015. Darren stayed with the business and ALS Safety was named IAPA training centre of the year 2019.

Last year Darren left to join Serious Labs as an international account director covering the UK/EU and Middle East. The new role is developing the MEWP VR simulator and working with new and existing clients to bring virtual reality into the mainstream of MEWP training.
