Damian’s career is in its fifth decade and includes extensive experience in the scaffolding industry. In 1997 he co-founded what is now known as Access Engineering Group based in Perth, Australia, and since 2003, has been its sole owner. Initially it specialised in general commercial construction and now operates several divisions: scaffolding, mast climbers & cradles, training, engineering & consultancy, shoring & falsework supply, and sales. The company’s mast climber fleet (Alimak Hek MSM and MSHF) was introduced in 2021 and currently stands at 70 drive units, which is expected to rise to 100 units by the end of this year.

Ben Chong

Ben started his current role more than 10 years ago. He is in charge of site management of MEWPs, MCWPs and scaffolding, including safety, risk assessments, inspections, installation/breakdown, training, maintenance, supplier management, auditing and implementing company health and safety procedures and practices. His previous positions include being the Safety Director of Poh Wah Scaffolding & Engineering and Safety Manager at China Construction (South Pacific) Development. He holds a master’s degree in occupational health & safety and a BSc degree in IT & business. His many professional qualifications include that he is a Certified Lead Auditor, International Register of Certified Auditor (IRCA), and a Registered Safety Officer and Work At Height Manager with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM). He has also been a member of the Institution of Engineers, Singapore (MIES) since 2006.

Martin Wraith

Martin Wraith
IPAF Rental+ Scheme Manager, IPAF

Martin started his career as a delivery driver in the 1980s. He’s since worked within the powered access industry as an independent instructor for over 10 years, progressing to become an IPAF Examiner and, over the last seven years, an IPAF auditor. During his time as an IPAF Instructor and Auditor, Martin sat on the IPAF Rental+ Committee contributing to the development of the Scheme. In 2021 he was appointed as IPAF’s Rental+ Scheme Manager and is now responsible for the future development of the Scheme, both in the UK and other regions around the world.

Angel is in charge of developing IPAF’s membership services and training programmes for MCWPs and related products (materials hoists, transport platforms and passenger hoists). With 25 years experience in different areas of the machinery, automotive and construction sectors, he has a broad experience in the MCWP and hoist industry worldwide. Previous experience includes: Sales Manager for the Spanish manufacturer Torgar lifting equipment, and latterly as an independent consultant in the sector, advising commercial clients and industry bodies in Europe and Asia, like the Japanese Lift Climber Association, with a focus on developing and adapting industry standards. He has a Master Degree in Industrial Engineering and an MBA.
