IPAF brings MEWP safety walk to BICES in Beijing

2017/09/19

The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) keeps up its safety ongoing campaigning in China and wider South East Asia this week with a dedicated “safety walk” aimed at demonstrating typical risk scenarios that can arise when operating Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs).

The informative walk is based on IPAF’s ongoing global ‘Back to Basics’ safety campaign, and consists of five specific stations, each of which demonstrates a key aspect of safety knowledge and best practice.

Visitors to the 14th edition of the international construction machinery exhibition & seminar, can join IPAF in the Safety Zone area of the convention, and can complete the IPAF safety stations either at their own pace or accompanied by an IPAF staff member, who will explain each safety message in more detail – guided walk-throughs will be hosted at regular intervals throughout the show.

The stations on the IPAF safety walk will be as follows:

Station 1: OPERATOR TRAINING

Station 2: FALL PROTECTION IN MEWPS

Station 3: INSPECTION PRIOR TO USE

Station 4: PREVENTING UNAUTHORISED USE

Station 5: ASSESSING GROUND CONDITIONS

The information posters along the Safety Walk will be in both Chinese and English. IPAF experts Raymond Wat, IPAF’s South East Asia Regional General Manager, and Bai Ri, IPAF’s China Representative will both be on hand during the exhibition to explain the importance of using a full-body harness with a short adjustable lanyard on all boom-type platforms, as per the pledge signed by all attendees of IPAF’s Asia Conference in Changsha, China, in June this year.

Safety information and technical guidance documents will also be available on the stand, and delegates can find out more about the extensive range of products, services and training offered by IPAF.

Visit IPAF in the Safety Zone on stand N226 at BICES 2017, 20-23 September, Beijing. For more information about BICES please click here.
